Biological Indicators for Hydrogen Peroxide Sterilization

On the biological indicator of hydrogen peroxide sterilization
Covering the way of sterilization is related to the health of people's livelihood, equipment and medicine, all rely on its method to maintain purity. Hydrogen peroxide sterilizer, because of its high efficiency and environmental protection, has gradually become the most important in the industry. In this process, biological indicators are crucial, and are the key to measuring the effectiveness of sterilization.

Biological indicators are sterilized with hydrogen peroxide, such as Sinan of a ship, which can accurately measure whether the sterilization is up to standard. It is made of specific microbial spores and is highly tolerant. When placed in a sterilized environment and subjected to the action of hydrogen peroxide, if the spores are exhausted, the sterilization is successful; on the contrary, if there are spores surviving, the sterilization must not be perfect.

Production of biological indicators, the selection of materials is extremely strict. It is often based on Bacillus thermophilic fatty spores because of its strong resistance to hydrogen peroxide. And in the preparation, the number and activity of spores need to be controlled to ensure that the performance of each batch of indicators is uniform and stable.

When using, place the biological indicator properly between the items to be sterilized to simulate the situation of the items being sterilized. After sterilization, take out the indicator and culture. If the medium is not discolored or turbid, it indicates that the spores are dead and the sterilization is up to standard; if the medium is discolored and turbid, the spores survive, and the sterilization is not fully functional. The reason needs to be investigated and re-sterilized.

Furthermore, the storage of biological indicators should not be underestimated. It should be placed in a dry and cool place, away from high temperature, humidity and strong light, to prevent the spore activity from changing and the results from being inaccurate.

In short, biological indicators are indispensable for hydrogen peroxide sterilization. Precise use and proper management can ensure reliable sterilization effect and protect public health.
