Chemical Reaction of Hydrogen Peroxide

First, it interacts with certain metal oxides. In case of manganese dioxide, hydrogen peroxide decomposes quickly. Second, it reacts with reducing substances. In case of ferrous ions, ferrous ions are reductive, while hydrogen peroxide is oxidizing. Ferrous ions are oxidized to iron ions, and hydrogen peroxide itself is reduced to water. During this process, the color of the solution may change, and it can gradually turn brown from light green to yellow.

Third, the reaction with some organic matter. Hydrogen peroxide can oxidize with some organic matter, which can cause changes in the structure of organic matter. If it interacts with organic matter containing carbon-carbon double bonds, it can initiate addition oxidation, which can change the chemical properties and physical properties of organic matter.
