Does Hydrogen Make Water Alkaline

On the influence of hydrogen on the alkalinity of water
It is said that water has the same nature. However, since recent years, people have talked a lot about the influence of hydrogen on water, especially the acidity and alkalinity of water.

Or hydrogen can make water alkaline. Those who have hydrogen are the clearest and purest things. It is in water, or in coordination with water molecules, produces specific changes. The activity of capping hydrogen, after entering the water, can interact with ions in the water. Or hydrogen reacts with hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions in the water, increasing the number of hydroxide ions. The alkalinity of water is determined by the concentration of hydroxide ions. If the hydroxide ions increase, the alkalinity of water will appear.

However, there is also a contrary theory. Water has its own ionization equilibrium. The product of hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions is always a constant value under a specific temperature and pressure. Even if hydrogen enters water, although the ionization equilibrium of water may be dynamic, it is difficult to change greatly according to the principle of equilibrium. Although hydrogen is active, the inherent equilibrium of water cannot be easily broken. And the amount of hydrogen soluble in water is also limited. If its amount is insufficient, can it significantly change the acidity and alkalinity of water?

Furthermore, looking at various experiments, the results are also different. Some experiments have shown that hydrogen can indeed slightly increase the alkalinity of water, but some experiments have not achieved this result. This may vary depending on the method of the experiment, the water used, and the environment in which it is located. Or due to the purity of the water quality, the height of the temperature, and the magnitude of the pressure, the reaction between hydrogen and water can be affected.

In summary, the alkaline effect of hydrogen on water cannot be determined. Although it can make water alkaline, there are still objections. To understand this principle, we should gather a wide range of opinions, study the experiment in detail, and explore it in a scientific and rigorous manner, in order to obtain an accurate theory.
