Give Dog Hydrogen Peroxide Vomit
If a dog accidentally takes a foreign body by mistake, it can use hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting to avoid more serious damage caused by the foreign body in the body.
Hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting, the dosage should be accurate. Generally speaking, for every 5 pounds of body weight, 1 teaspoon (about 5 ml) of 3% hydrogen peroxide should be used, and the single dosage should not exceed 3 teaspoons (about 15 ml).
When operating, you can slowly inject an appropriate amount of hydrogen peroxide into the dog's mouth with the help of a syringe or dropper to avoid rapid swallowing and choking. After the injection, gently massage the dog's abdomen to help the hydrogen peroxide work.
Under normal circumstances, the dog will vomit within a few minutes. If there is still no vomiting after 15 to 20 minutes, the original dose of hydrogen peroxide can be given again. However, if you still do not vomit after two repetitions, do not treat it yourself, and take the dog to the veterinarian immediately.
It should be noted that this method is not suitable for all foreign bodies accidentally ingested. If the dog accidentally ingests corrosive substances such as strong acids and alkalis, or sharp foreign bodies, the use of hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting may cause secondary injury.
Hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting is only an emergency measure. Even if the dog successfully vomits a foreign body, it is recommended to go to the veterinarian for further examination to confirm that there is no foreign body residue and damage in the body. This way, the health of the dog can be maximized.
