How To Create Hydrogen
The method of hydrogen production
The world wants to obtain hydrogen, and there are three methods. The first is the electrolysis of water. Water is combined with hydrogen and oxygen. In the water electrolyzer, an electric current is passed, and the water precipitates into hydrogen and oxygen. The anode produces oxygen, and the cathode produces hydrogen. This is a clean method, but it consumes a lot of electricity, and it is difficult to use it without cheap electricity.
The second is fossil fuel reforming. Take natural gas as an example, its main component is methane. The reaction of methane and water vapor at high temperature and under the action of a catalyst can obtain hydrogen and carbon monoxide. After carbon monoxide is changed, hydrogen can also be obtained. This way, the raw material is easy to obtain, but carbon dioxide will be produced, which is harmful to the environment.
The third is biological hydrogen production. Certain microorganisms, such as photosynthetic bacteria and fermenting bacteria, can produce hydrogen under specific conditions. Photosynthetic bacteria use light energy to produce hydrogen from organic matter as a substrate; fermenting bacteria decompose organic matter to produce hydrogen. This is a green way, but the technology is not mature and the efficiency is still low.
To improve the technique of hydrogen production, we should seek efficient, clean and economical methods. Develop new catalysts to reduce energy consumption; explore new biological hydrogen production processes to improve efficiency. If so, the rise of hydrogen energy can be expected.
