Hydrogen Bonds Polarity

Between heaven and earth, everything is biochemical, among which the principle of hydrogen health and polarity is crucial.

Hydrogen health is a special force between molecules. Its formation comes from the covalent combination of hydrogen atoms with atoms with large electronegativity and small radius (such as nitrogen, oxygen, fluorine), the hydrogen nucleus is exposed, and then it attracts another atom with large electronegativity. Although this force is weaker than chemical bonds, it has a profound impact on the properties of many substances.

Polarity is related to the uniformity of the charge distribution of molecules. If the charge distribution in the molecule is uneven, one end is positive and the other end is negative, it is a polar molecule; conversely, if the charge distribution is uniform, it is a non-polar molecule. The size of the polarity is determined by the geometry of the molecule and the polarity of the chemical bond.

The properties of many substances depend on hydrogen and polarity. Such as water, due to the existence of hydrogen between water molecules, it has a high boiling point and melting point, and can dissolve many polar substances. Another example is biological macromolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids, whose structure and function are also closely related to hydrogen and polarity. Hydrogen maintains the secondary and tertiary structures of proteins to ensure the normal performance of their functions; and the base pairing of nucleic acids also depends on hydrogen, which is the basis for the transmission of genetic information.
