Hydrogen engines are a new way of power today. The core of its operation depends on hydrogen.

Hydrogen, the most pure element, is the fundamental fuel of hydrogen engines. Its combustion process combines with oxygen to generate electricity and water, and no filth is left in the atmosphere, which is actually a cleaning energy. Unlike traditional fuel oils, hydrocarbon combustion produces more soot, nitrogen and sulfur compounds, polluting the air and damaging the environment. Hydrogen engines are made of hydrogen, which can be said to be in response to the needs of the times and the needs of the ecology.

Hydrogen production is also diverse. First, electrolysis of water. Make current pass through water, and water molecules separate into hydrogen and oxygen. Although pure hydrogen is obtained in this way, it consumes a lot of electricity and costs a lot. Second, fossil fuel reforming. At high temperatures and catalysts, hydrocarbons such as methane react with water to release hydrogen. Although the yield is acceptable, fossils are derived, which is not out of the traditional mold, and carbon dioxide is generated, which is contrary to the purpose of environmental protection. Third, biological hydrogen production. Thanks to the ability of microorganisms, hydrogen production under specific conditions has promising prospects, but the technology is not mature and the scale is difficult to expand.

The storage and transportation of hydrogen is also a priority. Hydrogen is gaseous at room temperature and pressure, and the density is very small. To store enough, high pressure or low temperature is required. High-pressure hydrogen storage requires extremely high requirements for container material and safety; low-temperature liquefaction requires considerable energy consumption. During transportation, pipeline transportation requires special pipelines, and tanker transportation has limited capacity.

In summary, hydrogen engines use hydrogen as fuel, which is clean and efficient, but the problems of production, storage and transportation need to be solved. With time and advanced technology, hydrogen will become a new engine of power, leading to changes in transportation and industry.
