Hydrogen Lewis Dot Diagram

The Lewis dot diagram of hydrogen is based on the distribution of electrons like a hydrogen atom or a hydrogen molecule. A hydrogen atom, which has only one electron, is represented by a dot in the Lewis dot diagram, which represents the outer electron of the hydrogen atom.

If it is a hydrogen molecule ($H_2 $), then two hydrogen atoms each have one electron, forming a pair of common electrons. In the Lewis dot diagram, two dots are close together, or a short line is connected. This short line and the two close dots show a pair of common electrons.

The wonder of this diagram is that it can reveal the bonding state of electrons between atoms, which is of great help to the microscopic analysis of chemistry. It makes people understand the change of electrons in reactions such as hydrogen synthesis, so as to understand the mystery of chemical changes.
