Hydrogen Peroxide Applications Properties Production

On hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is also a chemical substance. It is widely used and has different properties. The method of preparation is also exquisite.

Application of hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is widely used in various fields. In medical treatment, it is often used as a disinfectant, which can kill all kinds of germs and protect the health of the body. On the wound, hydrogen peroxide is used to wash it, which can remove filth, prevent it from spoiling and promote its healing.

In industry and papermaking, it can be used to bleach pulp, making paper as white as snow, with high quality and beautiful appearance. The printing and dyeing industry also relies on it to bleach fabrics and increase their color. And in sewage treatment, hydrogen peroxide can degrade harmful substances, and also clean the water source and protect the environment.

Properties of Hydrogen Peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is a colorless liquid at room temperature with a weak special odor. It is active and easy to decompose. When exposed to light, heat or catalyst, it is quickly divided and oxygen is released. This decomposition property makes hydrogen peroxide highly oxidizing and can oxidize many substances. However, its stability is not good, and it needs to be stored in a cool and dark place to prevent its decomposition from failing.

Production of hydrogen peroxide
There are many methods for the production of hydrogen peroxide. One is the anthraquinone method, which is a commonly used method. With anthraquinone as a carrier, it is obtained through a series of steps such as hydrogenation and oxidation. In the hydrogenation stage, anthraquinone reacts with hydrogen to form hydroanthraquinone; then oxidizes, and hydroanthraquinone interacts with oxygen to regain anthraquinone and generate hydrogen peroxide. This process is repeated, and hydrogen peroxide can be efficiently prepared.

There is also an electrolytic method, which generates ammonium persulfate at the anode by electrolysis of ammonium bisulfate solution, and then hydrolyzes to obtain hydrogen peroxide. Although this method can produce products, it has high energy consumption and relatively high cost.

In summary, hydrogen peroxide is widely used in various fields due to its unique properties, and its production method has been continuously refined to meet the growing demand.
