Hydrogen Peroxide Bubble in Sink Reasons

Discussion on the Causes of Hydrogen Peroxide Foaming in the Water Tank
In modern times, it is common for people to pour hydrogen peroxide into the water tank and form bubbles. The root causes are as follows.

First, the substances on the surface of the water tank are mostly ceramics, metals or plastics. Although the ceramic surface is smooth, there are also many small pores and bumps in the microscopic view. Metal materials may have metal oxides on the surface, and impurities may remain on the plastic surface. Hydrogen peroxide has strong oxidizing properties. When it encounters metal oxides or causes the valence state of metal ions to change, during this process, the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide accelerates, generating water and oxygen, and the oxygen escapes to form bubbles.

Second, the water tank often contains various microorganisms. There are many special enzymes in microorganisms, such as catalase. This enzyme has a high catalytic effect on the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. When hydrogen peroxide enters the water tank, even a small amount of microorganisms containing catalase can quickly decompose hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen, thus forming bubbles in the water tank.

Third, environmental factors cannot be ignored. When the temperature is slightly higher, the movement of hydrogen peroxide molecules intensifies, and the collision between molecules is frequent, causing decomposition reactions to occur more easily. And if the humidity in the space where the water tank is located is large, the moisture may affect the stability of hydrogen peroxide, making it easier to decompose, and bubbles will form.

In summary, the reaction of the surface material of the water tank, the catalysis of microbial enzymes, and the influence of environmental factors are all responsible for the foaming of hydrogen peroxide in the water tank.
