"On the Use of Hydrogen Peroxide in Wound Treatment"

In the past, when people were injured, there were many similarities and differences in the methods of wound treatment. Recently, there has been talk about the use of hydrogen peroxide in wounds, which is worth studying.

Hydrogen peroxide has strong oxidizing properties. In the past, people may have thought that it could cleanse wounds and remove rot and regenerate new ones. However, when it is carefully investigated, for the use of wounds, advantages and disadvantages coexist.

In terms of its advantages, when hydrogen peroxide encounters enzymes at the wound, it quickly interprets oxygen. This oxygen can inhibit the growth of some anaerobic bacteria, and has a certain anti-infection effect on wounds caused by anaerobic environments. And the foam when it decomposes can gently wash away the dirt on the surface of the wound and clean the wound.

However, it also has its drawbacks. The strong oxidation of hydrogen peroxide will also damage the normal tissue cells around the wound when killing bacteria. Newborn granules are delicate and vulnerable to damage, delaying the healing process of wounds. And frequent use of hydrogen peroxide to clean wounds may cause imbalances in the local tissue microenvironment, which affects the physiological mechanism required for healing.

Therefore, when doctors dispose of hydrogen peroxide for wounds, they need to carefully observe the condition of the wound. For shallow injuries and mild pollution, it can be used occasionally to clean the wound surface and prevent anaerobic bacteria infection; however, for larger and deeper injuries and severe tissue damage, it should be used with caution. It is advisable to combine other suitable debridement methods and drugs to achieve the best healing effect and promote the early recovery of the injured.
