Hydrogen Peroxide in Swimming Pool

Discussion on the Application of Hydrogen Peroxide in Swimming Pools
Since modern times, the cleanliness of swimming pool water has been related to everyone's health, so the maintenance of swimming pool water quality has attracted much attention. Among them, the discussion of the application of hydrogen peroxide in swimming pools is quite crucial.

Hydrogen peroxide is active and has strong oxidation power. In swimming pools, it may be used to purify water quality. Because of its ability to oxidize, it may be able to remove filth and kill all kinds of germs in water. However, the water in swimming pools is not only for purification, but also needs to be kept mild and suitable for swimming.

The method of disinfecting and purifying water commonly used in swimming pools is mostly chlorine-containing agents. This is because chlorine reacts in water to produce hypochlorous acid, which can effectively sterilize, and the cost is suitable, and the technology is mature. On the other hand, hydrogen peroxide, although it has the effect of oxidative sterilization, has many difficulties in its application in swimming pools.

First, hydrogen peroxide decomposes rapidly in water, and it is difficult to maintain its effective concentration for a long time. Swimming pool water has changeable flow and environmental factors. In order to make hydrogen peroxide play a stable role, it needs to be continuously adjusted and added accurately. This is quite difficult in actual operation.

Second, if hydrogen peroxide is used improperly, it may cause sudden changes in the oxygen content in the water. Excessive dissolved oxygen may affect the swimmer's experience, and even have potential harm to the human respiratory system. And excessive hydrogen peroxide may react with other substances in the water, generating adverse by-products, endangering water quality and human health.

Third, from economic considerations, maintain the stability of swimming pool water quality. If hydrogen peroxide is used, the cost is higher than that of traditional chlorine-containing agents. And the supporting monitoring and addition equipment also need to be invested, which is not easily affordable by ordinary swimming pool operators.

In summary, although hydrogen peroxide has the characteristics of oxidation and sterilization, it is difficult to become the mainstream choice for swimming pool water quality maintenance due to the limitations of stability, safety, economy and many other factors. The traditional mature method of swimming pool water purification is still appropriate, and scientific management is also required to ensure that the water in the swimming pool is always clear and everyone can swim without worry.
