Hydrogen Peroxide Safety Precautions

Hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidant. When using it, safety precautions are of paramount importance.

First, it needs to be properly stored. Hydrogen peroxide should be stored in a cool and ventilated place, away from fire and heat sources. Avoid mixing with flammable substances, reducing agents, etc., to prevent violent reactions. The container must be well sealed to prevent leakage.

Second, the operation should be cautious. Operators must wear appropriate protective equipment, such as protective glasses, gloves, etc., to prevent hydrogen peroxide from contacting the skin and eyes. If it accidentally splashes on the skin or eyes, it should be rinsed with plenty of water immediately and seek medical attention in time. When preparing and using hydrogen peroxide, the prescribed procedures should be strictly followed, and the concentration and dosage should not be changed at will.

Third, transportation compliance. During the transportation of hydrogen peroxide, ensure that the container is stable and avoid collision and dumping. Strictly follow relevant transportation regulations to prevent illegal operations.

Fourth, emergency response should be prompt. In the event of hydrogen peroxide leakage, the surrounding personnel should be evacuated immediately, and fire should be strictly prohibited from approaching. Small leaks can be absorbed by inert materials such as sand and vermiculite; large leaks need to be built embankments or excavated for containment, covered with foam to reduce volatilization, and timely contact professionals to deal with.

In short, for the use of hydrogen peroxide, the principle of safety first must be adhered to at all times, and various safety precautions must be strictly implemented, so as to ensure the safety of personnel and the environment.
