Hydrogen Renewable Energy Source

"On Whether Hydrogen is a Renewable Energy"

Since recent times, the study of energy has been related to the rise and fall of countries and the well-being of people's livelihood. Among them, hydrogen energy has attracted much attention, but whether it is a renewable energy source has different opinions. I will try to discuss it today.

The renewable energy source is inexhaustible and inexhaustible, and it can be recycled in nature. There are many methods for the production of hydrogen. Common ones include the reforming of fossil fuels to obtain hydrogen. Although this is convenient, fossil fuels are non-renewable. According to this approach, hydrogen cannot be called a renewable energy source.

There is also a method of hydrogen production by water electrolysis. Water is spread between heaven and earth. If clean energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy, and water energy are used to generate electricity to electrolyze water, and after obtaining hydrogen, hydrogen is burned and reformed into water. This process seems to be renewable. Solar energy, wind energy, and water energy are all renewable, and hydrogen production is also renewable by its power.

Of course, it is not so simple. Today's water electrolysis hydrogen production relies on traditional electricity, which is often generated from non-renewable energy sources such as coal. Therefore, the production of hydrogen is not renewable, so it is difficult to call hydrogen a renewable energy source.

Furthermore, the storage and transportation of hydrogen is also a problem. The characteristics of hydrogen are lively, storage requires special equipment, and transportation is also inconvenient, which may prevent its large-scale application as a renewable energy source.

In summary, based on the current technology and actual situation, although hydrogen energy has great potential, only in terms of the definition of renewable energy, if its production is not entirely based on the power of renewable energy, it is still difficult to determine that hydrogen is a renewable energy source. However, with each passing day, with time, if the technical difficulties can be overcome and hydrogen can be efficiently produced and easily stored and transported with pure renewable energy, hydrogen may be a real renewable energy source, shining brightly in the energy landscape.
