On whether hydrogen peroxide can be used as a good hand disinfectant
Recently, everyone attaches great importance to hygiene and is particularly concerned about hand disinfection. Hydrogen peroxide, the name of the chemical "hydrogen peroxide", is also used in disinfection. There is a lot of discussion about whether it can be a good hand disinfectant?

Looking at the properties of hydrogen peroxide, it has strong oxidative properties. This property can destroy the structure of bacteria, destroy their nucleic acids and proteins, and cause bacterial death. It has the ability to disinfect. In the past, it was commonly used in the initial cleaning of wounds to remove dirt and bacteria and prevent infection.

However, it is also insufficient for hand disinfection. First, if the concentration of hydrogen peroxide is high, it has strong irritation to the skin of the hand. The skin of the hand is delicate, and contact with high-concentration hydrogen peroxide can cause redness, swelling, pain, and even burns. If accidentally splashed into the eyes, it is particularly harmful and can damage vision. Second, after the hydrogen peroxide evaporates, there are few disinfectant ingredients left on the hands, and the disinfection effect is short. And the hands often come into contact with foreign objects, which is easy to re-stain bacteria, and it is difficult to protect them for a long time in a short time.

Furthermore, now in hand disinfection, there are many special disinfectants, such as those containing alcohol and chlorine. Alcohol-containing disinfectants can quickly denature bacterial proteins, have strong and fast disinfection power, evaporate quickly, and have little hand irritation. Chlorine-containing disinfectants have a wide disinfection spectrum, can kill a variety of germs, and residual ingredients can be continuously disinfected within a certain period of time. In comparison, the advantages of hydrogen peroxide in hand disinfection are not obvious.

In summary, although hydrogen peroxide has disinfection properties, it is not an ideal hand disinfectant due to its high irritation to the hand skin and short disinfection aging. In daily hand disinfection, choose a suitable special disinfectant to ensure hand hygiene and health.
