Triethylamine Buffer Preparation
Preparation of triethylamine buffer
Preparation of raw materials
Triethylamine, an appropriate amount of distilled water and an acid (such as hydrochloric acid) used to adjust the pH should be prepared. Triethylamine should be selected with high purity reagents to ensure the quality of the buffer.
Operation steps
1. In a clean container, measure a certain volume of triethylamine, slowly inject an appropriate amount of distilled water, and stir while adding to fully dissolve triethylamine.
2. Monitor the pH of the solution with an acidity meter, add hydrochloric acid dropwise, and continue to stir to precisely adjust to the required pH value. Different experiments have different requirements for the pH value of the buffer, so be sure to adjust it accurately according to the experimental requirements.
3. After adjusting the pH value, transfer the solution to a suitable volumetric flask, bandwidth evaluation with distilled water to the required volume, shake well again, so that the solution composition is uniform.
Precautions
1. The operation should be carried out in a well-ventilated environment. Because triethylamine has an irritating odor and certain toxicity, avoid inhalation.
2. When measuring triethylamine and other reagents, be sure to use an accurate measuring tool to ensure the accurate concentration of the buffer.
3. Adjusting the pH value process should slowly add acid dropwise to prevent excessive pH adjustment and affect the performance of the buffer.
4. The prepared buffer should be properly stored to avoid contamination and volatilization, which will affect its stability and use effect.
