Use Hydrogen Peroxide on Cats Ears

Cat ears should not be cleaned rashly with hydrogen peroxide. Cat ears are exquisitely constructed, and the ear canal is narrow and sensitive. Hydrogen peroxide is oxidizing. Although it can disinfect and sterilize, it can be used directly on cat ears or irritate the mucosa of the ear canal, causing cat discomfort, pain, and even hearing damage.

If there is dirt or inflammation in the cat ear, you should observe it first. For normal cleaning, you can use a pet-specific ear wash. Follow the instructions. Drop the ear wash into the cat ear and gently rub the root of the ear. The cat will throw out the dirt by itself, and then wipe the outer ear with a cotton ball.

If there is an abnormality in the cat's ears, such as increased secretions, odor, frequent scratching by the cat, etc., it may be ear mites, inflammation and other problems. The veterinarian will diagnose and treat it according to the specific situation. Do not use hydrogen peroxide or other drugs that are not approved by the veterinarian to avoid delaying the disease or causing more serious consequences.
