Use Hydrogen Peroxide to Induce Vomiting in Dogs

Dogs use hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting

When a dog accidentally eats foreign bodies or poisons, it is sometimes necessary to induce vomiting in time to reduce the absorption of harmful substances. Hydrogen peroxide can be used to induce vomiting in dogs, but it needs to be handled with caution.

Generally speaking, the concentration of hydrogen peroxide used to induce vomiting in dogs should be 3%. The dosage to be used should be determined according to the weight of the dog, usually 1 ml per kilogram of body weight. For example, a 5kg dog should be given 5 ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide.

When operating, ensure that the dog is in a quiet and safe environment to avoid injury during vomiting. A syringe or dropper can be used to slowly inject hydrogen peroxide through the mouth at the base of the tongue of the dog to encourage it to swallow. After injection, gently massage the dog's abdomen to accelerate the action of hydrogen peroxide.

However, not all situations are suitable for using hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting. If the dog swallows corrosive substances such as strong acids and alkalis, or sharp foreign bodies, vomiting may lead to secondary injury. At this time, medical attention should be sought immediately. And if the dog has severe symptoms such as coma and convulsion, it is not allowed to use hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting by itself. Emergency medical attention is required.

In short, before using hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting in dogs, if conditions permit, it is best to consult a veterinarian for advice to ensure that the operation is safe and effective, so as to protect the health of the dog.
